Coach Michael Gobrecht along with the WSY Swimming Coaching staff will offer a 60 minute evaluation clinic as well as introduction to our team for any new swimmer from the Central Pennsylvania area that may want to join our program in the Fall/Winter 2024-2025.  At the conclusion of these evaluation clinics, swimmers will receive their practice group placement for the 2024-2025 Competitive Team or be recommended to be part of one of our WSY Pathway Programs.

Are you thinking about competitive swimming?  If you are looking to have your child start in a “pathway” to be part of a competitive swimming program – Are you in an advanced level of swim lessons? If the answer is “yes”, you will need to begin in our WSY Pathway Programs which include Pre Competitive Swimming (September and January), Stroke Clinics (April|May), and Ducks Summer League swimming (June| July). After a swimmer completes 2 or 3 steps in our pathway programs, they will be eligible to move to our WSY Competitive Team. Keep in mind, if your child can not make it one length of the pool without stopping, they will need to remain in swim lessons before they register for any of our WSY Pathway Programs

The WSY Mini Team is the second part of a two-part program designed to slowly move swimmers from the pre-competitive level to the competitive levels. We will introduce Pre Competitive Mini Swim Team participants to the experience of a swim meet and will continue to work on the fundamentals of competitive swimming.  Class outline of skills is here

This program is great for summer league swimmers, Country Club swimmers, or children advancing out of swim lessons.  In addition to working on correct stroke form of all four (4) competitive strokes and using starting blocks, swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in two (2) inter-squad swim meets at the YMCA.  Prerequisites for this program include the ability to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) on your stomach with rotary breathing and one length of the pool on your back. Each class session will be limited to 35 swimmers.

This program  is open to youth ages 6-14.

The WSY Take Your Mark participants will learn the fundamentals of competitive swimming through fun-filled drills in a positive atmosphere. This program is the first of a two-part program designed to slowly move swimmers from the pre-competitive level to the competitive levels.  Pre Requisites for this program include being comfortable swimming one length of the pool on your stomach and one length of the pool on your back

This program is great for Summer league swimmers, Country Club swimmers, or children coming out of swim lessons. Our concentration will be on correct stroke form of all four (4) competitive strokes, as well as understanding how to use starting blocks. There are no swim meets. Parents that wish to have their child(ren) try-out the program should plan to attend our Evaluation Clinics in August [register here].

No class Thanksgiving weekend (11/29 or 12/1)

This program  is open to youth ages 5-14.
