Hip hop is an energetic style of dance that will get you moving fast on your feet. In hip hop, students will be encouraged to learn how to move all different parts of their body with isolation work, and intricate footwork. Students will also learn how to put these various movements together so that they flow into the hip hop style. Performance is a huge part of hip hop, in which students will learn how to incorporate facial expressions with their movements to become affluent with the nature of the style.

Schedule/Ages:

• Ages 8-11: Fridays from 4:15-5:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room

Location: Friendship YMCA

This class will have students learn expressing the mood and lyrics of a song through movement. Lyrical uses elements of ballet and jazz in order to tell a story with inner emotion through dance.  New elements for returning participants, and great for new participants.

Dates: September 5-October 24, 2025 (7 classes), no class 9/12

Schedule: Fridays from 5:00-5:45pm

Ages: 12-15 years

Location: Friendship YMCA

This class is for youth which have gone through at least one session of the “Beginner Ballet/Jazz” class (not mandatory to advance to this class) or have some dance experience.

Dates: September 5 – October 24, 2025

Schedule: Fridays from 6:30-7:15pm

Ages: 7-10 years

Participants will learn basic ballet techniques in a fun and low-key environment. Students will gain coordination, flexibility, musicality, and appreciation for the art of dance.

Dates: September 3 – October 22, 2025 *no class Sept. 10

Schedule: Wednesdays from 6:45-7:30pm

Ages: 5-7 years

Location: West Shore YMCA

Students will learn movement and basic ballet technique through songs, creative expressions, and games. The focus is to make students comfortable in their movement and coordination while having fun!

Dates: September 5-October 24, 2025

Schedule: 5:30-6:15pm on Fridays

Ages: 3-5 years

In this unique class, participants will learn how to perform in a musical theater setting by developing their jazz dance, acting, and performance skills. The group will be dancing to songs from both classic and contemporary musicals. This is a wonderful class for those looking to learn how to perform in musicals or just have fun.

Dates: September 6–October 25, 2025

• Ages 5-8: Saturdays from 12:30-1:15pm
• Ages 9-12: Saturdays from 1:30-2:15pm
