In partnership with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, the Camp Curtin YMCA presents Major Prep Hoop Dreams, a free 3-day Basketball Camp for Harrisburg School District students.

Registration Dates: Registration opens July 4 and ends July 24, 2025

Schedule:

• August 19-21, 2025 (Tuesday-Thursday)
• 8:30am-12:30pm
• Lunch will be provided all three days, with a cookout on Thursday

Ages: For students in Harrisburg School District entering grades 6-9 in 2025-26

This 2-hour-a-day basketball camp is for players with basketball experience who want to continue enhancing their skills through instruction, practice, and pick-up games. The camp is led by an experienced school basketball coach, ensuring expert guidance and support. It’s a great opportunity for players to improve their skills in a structured yet fun environment!

The camp will use a 10-foot rim height.

🔥 Come grow, explore, and be inspired at Camp Ignite! 🔥 Camp Ignite is a week-long outdoor adventure camp designed to spark growth, leadership, and resilience in youth through hands-on experiences and meaningful life lessons. Guided by impactful scenes from the inspiring films Gran Turismo, Wizard of Oz, and Facing the Giants, each day focuses on character development, teamwork, and perseverance — all while having fun in the great outdoors. Spots are limited – early registration is recommended! Transportation to and from the Y is needed each day, but campers will be transported to each day’s events.

Campers will explore beautiful locations around Central Pennsylvania, including state parks, conservation areas, and farms. Activities vary by location and may include:

• Hiking & biking through scenic trails
• Fishing & boating on peaceful lakes
• Nature discovery & crafting at outdoor centers
• Frisbee golf, yard games & team challenges
• Cooking over campfires & observing local wildlife
• Rafting & creek adventures (weather permitting)

The Basketball Camp for Rookies is a co-ed program for players entering 1st-6th grade who are new to the game or have a little experience. This camp focuses on developing individual skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and more, all in a fun and recreational setting.

The camp uses an 8-foot rim height, making it more accessible for younger players to build confidence and improve their game. It’s a great way to learn the basics and improve basketball skills in a supportive environment!
