The open gyms are for players of all skill levels.  In a recreational environment, participants will practice skills with focus on game play.  Held in the West Shore YMCA gymnasium.

For those new to club volleyball, new to the West Shore YMCA Club, or a parent(s) of a past participant interested in learning details about the 2024-2025 season.  Held inside the West Shore YMCA.  Two dates to choose from.

This is a competitive program that consists of tryouts, weekly practices, weekend tournaments, and position focused practices. The season runs December-April. Attendance at tryouts is mandatory if you wish to play on a WSY team.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, 2024.

12-13U – 11:30-1:30 pm (Both Saturday & Sunday)

For beginners and new players! Skill work and fundamentals are the focus during this 8-week Developmental Volleyball Program. Position work will be addressed as well as the understanding of game play. Participants will also learn blocking, hitting, serving, passing, and setting!

This session is for ages 9-15

Wednesday  6:00 – 7:00 PM

Intermediate Volleyball is a great way to develop your volleyball skills in a fun and encouraging climate! You will continue to build on your basic skills. While learning volleyball tactics and strategy during game play.  This program will get you ready for the next level!

This session is for ages 12-16

Wednesday  7:00- 8:00 PM for 8 Weeks

Co-ed Volleyball League – For beginners and experienced players! Skill work and fundamentals will be taught and practiced during this 8-week program.  Position work will be addressed as well as the understanding of game play. Participants will also learn blocking, hitting, serving, passing, and setting!

Tuesday evenings starting October 22nd (runs for 8 weeks)

6:00pm – 7:00pm at Grace UMC in Millersburg

**November 5th, the league will be held at the YMCA due to the church space being utilized for the election.

Ages: 5th grade through 8th grade

West Shore YMCA:

Looking to develop your volleyball skills in a fun and encouraging climate? Learn the basic rules and skill work in the game of volleyball at the Harrisburg Area YMCA in our Developmental Volleyball program! Our programs are co-ed, and ages will vary depending on the branch program you select. Youth will practice an array of drills and play games. The program is a great way to show the sport of volleyball to youth who are keen to play.

This class will help to build skills including serving, forearm passing, setting, hitting, and blocking.  This program emphasizes skill work, proper mechanics, and basics to give the players a solid foundation of the sport. It addresses position work as well as game-play understanding.

Fall I Session:  Thursdays, September 12 – October 17 (6 week session)

Fall II Session:  Thursdays, October 24 – December 12 (7 week session *No program November 28)

Ages 8-11: 5:00-6:00 PM · Meet in East Gymnasium
Ages 12-15: 6:00-7:00 PM · Meet in East Gymnasium
